One morning I came home to find a frantic message from Jody. Her usual calm demeanor had given way to panic and tears because Boots, her indoor cat, had gone outdoors unnoticed. To make matters worse, he'd made his way under her car and hid above the wheel well, a discovery she made as she drove off to work in the morning. The loud meow and sudden thud sent her into a whirlwind of emotions as she watched Boots hit the pavement and race off down the street.
Hearing her distressed message, I called immediately. She was deeply concerned that Boots might be hurt or disoriented as he'd never been outside before.
I did my best to calm her (and myself) so I could focus intuitively on Boots. He responded right away and assured me he was not injured, simply hiding; the street noise and people walking by had him lodged in a nearby hedge. He confirmed he would come home once the noise stopped. I estimated his return to be between 1:30 and 2:00 am.
I advised her to put his favorite blanket or bed on the porch along with food and water, as I imagined he would be cold and hungry from his ordeal. I also encouraged her to visualize an energetic connection between her heart and Boots' to help lead him home with her love. All this she did.
I checked my email first thing when I awoke and was overjoyed to find the following message from Jody:
"Man alive, did you nail it when you looked at Boots. At about 1:45 this morning, I heard a cat crying outside. We had put his favorite pillow, food and water out on the porch. Sure enough we opened the door and there sat Boots. He couldn't get in the house fast enough. We picked him up and he just loved on us and purred and purred. He looked a little ragged but walked fine and it didn't seem to bother him when we held him. You were right; he came back after dark and after it was not so noisy and busy.
